Fire protection is a critical concern in the construction of new buildings or renovations, particularly for construction joint systems like head-of-wall, wall-to-wall, bottom-of-wall and perimeter joints.
3M construction joint systems help prevent and limit the devastating effects of fire. Regardless of the project, 3M offers affordable solutions and the expertise to match your passive fire protection needs.
3M’s Construction Joint System products are designed to accommodate various movements induced by thermal differentials, seismicity and wind loads. When properly installed, they provide 3–4-hour protection against the spread of fire, smoke and noxious gas. 3M also has a variety of firestopping products that can be used in static joint systems.
3M offers firestop barrier sealants used to help prevent the spread of fire, smoke, toxic fumes and moisture. For both joint and through-penetration applications, our products have a fire rating of up to 4 hours in tested and listed systems for construction joints.
This high-performance flexible latex sealant is designed to minimize sound transfer and prevent the spread of smoke by sealing construction joints and through penetrations in non-fire-rated wall and floor assemblies. In addition, it acts as a draftstop to prevent unwanted air movement and provides a barrier against dust and other airborne particulates.
This sprayable water-based material dries to form a durable, elastomeric coating. When used as part of an assembly, it helps firestop building joints, perimeter joints (curtain wall) and through penetration seals, providing up to 4 hours of fire protection in tested and listed systems for construction joints.
