3M™ Vibration Damping Tape 436 is a silver, dead soft aluminum foil constraining layer coated with a pressure sensitive viscoelastic polymer on a blue polyethylene easy release liner. This tape absorbs and dissipates vibration and reduces noise. It is useful for a variety of applications in the aerospace, automotive, construction, appliance and MRO fields.
Performance in Difficult Applications
3M™ Vibration Damping Tape 436 is a 17.5 mil thick, silver, dead soft aluminum foil tape. It is designed to reduce noise and absorb and dissipate vibration, primarily by reducing structure-borne noise in metal and composite panels and support structures. It can achieve effective damping with as little as 10% surface coverage. This tape is durable. It will resist moisture, weather, UV degradation and flame. It is a long aging, chemical resistant tape that offers good performance over a wide range of temperatures, particularly lower temperatures. It will perform in temperatures as low as -76°F/-60°C. The linered construction provides the ability to die cut this product.
Recommended Applications
Reduce Noise and Fatigue
Our 3M™ Vibration Damping Tape 435 features a pressure sensitive viscoelastic acrylic polymer adhesive which is optimized to convert vibrational energy to negligible heat that readily dissipates to help reduce irritating noise. It also reduces vibrational fatigue to decrease wear and tear on parts and lower the risk of part loosening and displacement. The adhesive is pressure sensitive for easy self-fixturing application.
